    Just been looking at a local job and it says this "Exposure to ERP on a AS400 platform and JBA System 21" anyone know what it is? Cheers

    ERP is Enterprise Resource Planing.

    AS400 is an IBM platform I believe.

    Might be worth looking at the IBM site.

    Depends on whose definition of 'new'!

    Wikipedia suggests AS400 dates from 1988.

    Certainly I heard of it many years ago.

    No. I heard of it because I was working at a system-integrator, and another department was involved with them.

    I dont think i would get the job, but il stay clear of it anyway, knowing how old it is :)

    Doesn't mean it's bad. Most OSs have their origins in ancient times (ancient for computers anyway) - Unix, VMS, Netware, even DOS/Windows.

    Isn't the AS Unix based.

    I may be wrong but if you are familiar with *nix then you may well be able to do the job.

    But I may be wrong of course :oops:
