What TV to get?!

Decided to buy a new tv in the sales, but really dont know what to get, at the mo i have a samsung 32" LCd i thought it was bigger! now its HD Ready but i cant notice the difference between HD and normal so i think i wanna go for a full HD TV.
Whats best to get LCD, LED or Plasma? is there anything i should look out for? I mainly watch TV on it but i do like to play my Xbox on there.
I have seen 40" LED for £400 but u can get a 50" Plasma for £450?
Any ideas or views will be muchly appreciated.

also what about the 3D feature? is it worth it?
