I am planning on taking my N+ and possibly the 70-271 in the next month or two (dependant on finances and time allowing).

After I get the 70-272 what should or could I consider?

Although I am doing the odd bit of networking and server configuration and set up I don't think this is giving me the experience to do the MCSA or anything like that.

I also plan to learn Vista, I already have Michaels and Josh's book.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

What about the Security+ as it will give you a good all round basis for building, networking and properly securing networks.

I might look into but to be honest it would just be for learning as it's not something I really want to do.

You could still head towards your MCSA, you'll pick up some MCP's along the way and you maybe don't have a job giving you the experience yet but who knows what tomorrow will bring. It wouldn't be the end of the world to learn it without working on it, it's just not as "ideal".

I suppose so, I just don't want to ov certify myself. I did wonder about the 70-270 I do have the books for it so that could be an option.

You said you plan to learn Vista- would that be the 70-620 exam (MCTS)?

If you're doing "the odd bit of networking and server configuration" but not what you consider enough to tackle an advanced cert like the MCSA, why not make your next cert the CompTIA Server+?

You'll be taught the fundementals and of course, it's vendor-neutral. That, in addition to your A+ and N+, will look very nice on your CV.

that could be an idea, I'll download the objectives when I get home and go through it and see if anything matches with what I do now.

From the work you do, and the information you have posted previously, I would say go for the MCSA.

I would recommend going for the Vista OS as this can be used on the MCITP route. Not that I'm knocking XP, I'm sure that you are move than capabale of fixing most issues relating to this OS.

The reason I say MCSA, is the fact that your CV can represent anything that you actuallly do. You could put more weighting behind the server side items and less on the rest of your job role.

You are actually working with servers, due to this my recommendation would be for your future job prospects to go for the MCSA :D

Check GBL's original post - it's not very obvious, but that's his plan anyway.

    70-271 + 70-272 = MCDST

well I have stopped looking as I am getting quite a lot of experience at the moment with doing server work and a bit of networking in my current job. I am hoping to get more experience and get some certs completed so that if/when I get another job I will stand a good chance of getting something I really want to do.
