My first year was quite poor to be honest - for 8 months it was 1st line - but most of the calls that came in were either resolved with reboots or were logged and passed onto other teams, so actual fixes were not very often. Even things like password resets and account unlocks were dealt with by another team.

The last 4 months was on a clients site doing mainly desktop support work and a bit of server support. A bit of Office exposure, but again due to the nature of the contract it was mostly box swapping.... if I know now what I did then (ie, about what the work was like, I'd definitely have gone for a different company to work for!)

Amount learnt - it would be arrogant to say nothing, but it doesn't take much to learn how to swap boxes or deal with basic Office enquiries.
