Had a hard drive fail on me and my Windows XP setup disk failed to work without sending the screen haywire, so I've finally made the switch to Ubuntu Linux and after 5 hours finally managed to gain access to my second hard drive :D

Did you get the network card working right away? I think I spent a good 30-45min on debian trying to get the drivers installed. Then again I don't know much about the OS so that probably one of the reasons why. I know that ubuntu is user friendly.

I didn't have any problems with the network card, possibly because it was built in to the motherboard?

I've never had a problem networking Debian/Ubuntu. It just works. That said, Linux can be a bit "picky" with wireless, but again...my only experience was Ubuntu using a Linksys pcmcia card and that "just worked".

Still having issues with the sound drivers causing firefox 3.0.1 and Opera 9.5 to crash when playing youtube videos, did fix it by going back to the onboard soundcard, but found that the volume wasn't right.

I only visit when I have an issue I can't figure out (or Google) for myself, but the Ubuntu Forums have been quite helpful.
