You Know The Name & You Know The Number:-
    James Bond 007

Daniel Craig was named best actor for 'Casino Royale,' his debut outing as James Bond and is also up for the best-actor prize at British Academy Film Awards

But if you had chance to vote for the best BOND actor who would you choose and why?

I must admit I feel torn between Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.

Sean Connery in you only live twice and Dr No comes across as a hard, ruthless spy but at the same time brings a bit of humour to the plots.

Watching the priemere of Goldern Eye with Pierce Brosnan really did bring Bond back from the grave after Licence to Kill.:biggrin

Pierce comes across as a smooth shaken but not stirred James Bond:biggrin

Tough one. I judge a Bond by the faitfulness to the Bond in the books, the contenders for me are Brosnan, Craig, Connery, Lazenby and Dalton, Moore is out for a start. Both Connery and Brosnan had moments where they truly reflected the real Bond, but Connery especially went south with his later films. It's too difficult to judge Lazenby and Craig having only done one film each, but I have high hopes for Craig if he carries on the way he started. Which brings me to Dalton; although his films were commercially unsuccessful, he was the most consistantly authentic as Bond IMO. So...I don't know is the short answer.

[EDIT]Practically Connery's first moment as Bond - a guy who's just emptied his gun at Bond so is now totally unarmed, an Connery puts a cap in his ass. That's Bond! Sean gets my vote for the moment.

    Thanks Baba for your input.

I watched the films before reading the books, I'm sure that if I had done it the other way round. I would of been dissapointed or somewhat surprised by how different the book of moonraker was with the film.

In your situation I would ask to remember the first time you read a James Bond Book and remember the first thoughts of what you imagine the Character of James bond to be like in your mind then compare this to the Actors in the film.

Yes I decided at the last moment to make it multi choice. With reference to your first post. I thought some people may not vote as you said it's a tough one.

There's so many angles on the best vote.

Do take into the account how the actor potrayed the character or your first impression of what James Bond is?

Well I went for Sean, Pierce and Daniel.

For Sean, obviously by far the best Bond.

For Pierce, he portrayed Bond the way he should be for the 21st century (yes I know he did Goldeneye in 97 and Tomorrow Never Dies in 1999, but you get what I mean :biggrin), i will say there were times where he tried to be funny (Die Another Day) and didnt really pull it off, otherwise not too bad.

For Daniel, well what can I say? The guy blew it away with his performance. Gritty, dark and just what James Bond was all about in his first outing as a 00. I didnt think he would do a good but he did a fantastic job...hats off to him :biggrin

I opted for Roger Moore. Why? Simply because he was Bond when I was growing up. 8)

For me its either Craig or Connery.

Connery is a legend but i really enjoyed Casino Royale.

Personally, i think the best of Daniel Craig is still to come, usually the films get better as they learn. I got a feeling that the next one will be a good'un. (but what do i know)

No gadgets though ! and where was the bond tune !!??

Cant vote for Brosnan because of 'cheese' value, or simply because John Cleese was in one. Thats reason enough for me, who cast that film should be shot at dawn.

    :D

My chosing is a little different
Firstly im only choosing one, i dont think a multi option poll works for a 'whos the best bond' poll, seems rather at odds :)

I never read the books, so my choices are soley on how the films made me feel

As a kid, the Connery movies brought it home, the rocked, i loved them all, in fact i loved all the bonds, perhaps how i got my techy streak, who knows!

Brosnan clips the nail, I was a teen when he started his movies and i remember the excitement of going to see bond movies in the cinema, the FX, the Score, everything about them was banged up a notch and i loved them all

Craig played a fine bond, one of the best so far, and i went to see Casino Royale with the same fanfare and enthusiasm i went to see all the Bonds before with, however I cant award the guy the top spot after one movie, my only hope is he does as many if not more than Brosnan, as he has definatly got what it takes!

So in voting for one, Brosnan gets my vote, followed by Connery and Craig
if I could pick all three I would, but picking half the crop of bonds doesnt seem like an accurate judgement for 'best' :D

OK I really do think Sean Connery was the best, but if George Lazenbury had done more than 1 film he could have been up their as the best 007. And if the Bond films go back to basic’s I could find Daniel Craig doing rather well.

I was lucky enough to win tickets to the charity premier of Casino Royale and the beginning of the film filmed in black & white was very good, never realised you could use a urinal in that way though!:D

I quite liked Timothy Dalton as it returned to a slightly more 'sensible' Bond in a slightly more credible era.

    Didn't vote for him though.

Although Moore had some good stories, it started to get a bit silly and a bit too tongue in cheek. Madman out to take over the planet again? Happens all the time, that's what MI6 is all about...

    Brosnan for me I think.
