    hi all,

Is vista 64 bit a worth while investment. Building a new system highend specs.

Running xp at the moment but will be running vista on new system.
Going for premium edition as i want all the little extras + the networking support sounds a good idea.

    Any comments welcome
    Thanks 8)

I have x64 and, to be honest, I havent noticed a great deal of difference so far.

Its obvious that its pointless getting it unless your processor is x64 though.

The biggest reason for doing this would be the additional memory support offered by a 64-bit OS.

Home Premium Support 16 GB RAM
    Ultimate Supports 128+ GB RAM

Although most standard highend PC motherboards are still only supporting 8GB max.

I would personally stick to the 32bit version of vista for now. It's still currently not the most stable OS and having Vista x64 could cause more instability problems. However not everyone has issues with the 64bit. Like fergal said his os runs just fine.

Is suguest you read this http://www.bit-tech.net/bits/2007/10/16/64-bit_more_than_just_the_ram/1

I would say if you have a x64 processor than go 64 bit or its nor really worth buying a 64 bit proc only to use up half of the instructionset.
