Hey guys, everyone seems to do a 3 day update, but due to being busy ive not really got around to posting this, so its more like a 3 and a bit weeks update.

Well started on the week of xmas, first 2 weeks were pretty slow, just getting used to where everything is, procedures, and the tonnes of gumph (ie policies) from the parent company.

Work in an office with several others, all doing different roles, it is a prety relaxed atmosphere but everyones friendly, so so far its been enjoyable.

My role itself is not the most challenging so i guess its a case of trying to expand my role as much as possible, so so far ive been trying to get involved as much as possible.

A couple of long term jobs have been closed thanks to me finding solutions, and we seem up to date now on general IT support jobs, so a few projects and improvements on the go, so again trying to get involved and show off my skills (ie group policy is one I will be involved with.)

Also looks like I will be responsible for telephones as well (or at least support, will see how that goes)

The company itself does a lot of in house programming and use crystal reports so there are areas that I want to learn, so am in an envionment to do it.

My latest (self appointed) project was memory upgrades, lots of the machines could use an upgrade so have been using various tools to get lists and plan some upgrades, thanks to the performance charts and ROI figures I have produced it looks like it could go ahead.

Also bought and brought in an SMS book (for use by both myself and the office).

The only down side i guess is because we are a child company, there are some restritions and guidelines to follow, which in all honesty have made things trickier from a support perspective, but overall I see the value in standardisation.

So, its a case of so far so good, looks like it could be an interesting role.
