Im working on an essay entitled What is a Router and Why they are used?. I got formal definitions and explainations but im looking for online resources with info to help me and possibly give me a few diagrams i can use. Does anyone have any links please to sites with info? Also any recommend any good books to loo through as my uni library is well stocked so i might find it in there! I tried using google (string searches: routers and introduction to routers) but my results havent brought up much. I got to keep it very basic and easy so nothing to complicated please guys.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

ps excuse any typos as you can see its 3am and im still working my a$$ off to finish a java project - a nice looking cricket scoreboard! :biggrin

The mighty ozcableguy has some very good info on routers which he puts in clear precise laymans terms. You might find some of it very interesting. he knows his stuff but is primarily focused on Internet connectivity.

Zim, you may want to explain what features a router has in comparison to a switch and a hub. Don’t go into *too* much detail though but it shows that you have considered the role of a router in context of a network topology. 8)
