    I always took a network ID to be the network portion of the IP address and the host to be the host IP i.e the last portion.

    At the end of Chapter 13 in the summary it states the opposite!;

    Host ID= Portion of IP address that identifies the network segment.

    Network ID= The portion of the IP address that identifies a particular address.

    Working thru the DST and XP Pro books we've unearthed about 30 mistakes which the tutor has sent off to MS. Such a big company MIGHT try to not be quite so lame at times eh?

    Is this the XP Pro book you're talking about Boyce? Have you checked out the errata? I was going to post a link but they're damn hard to track down and I can't find them again now:x . If you search on the MS site by the ISBN number it comes up with nothing, but I know there are some somewhere because I've made corrections in my own copy.

    Yep, that's the one I'm talking about. I eventually found the errata via a link in a forum I found through Google. Can't find them again for love nor money though:blink .

    RH, I found that but if you enter the ISBN number of the book we are talking about it doesn't come up with anything.

    Boyce, if you want, when I get some time this evening I will post the corrections I made in my own copy.
