Do you think it will be beneficial to retake my GCSE English and Maths, at school i only got grade E's for both and my local college does a 36 week, 3 hours a week course for only £100

It would be a skill i would like, something more to learn and i think it will stand out on my C.V......What do you think

It could be beneficial especially the maths, when I left sschool at 16 my highest grade was D in English and I got a F in maths (probably would have helped if I had revised).

When I was doing my GNVQ at Tech college I had to do extra maths (GCSE) and when I went to do my HND I had to do extra maths (A/S) to help with the programming modules as I sucked at algorithms.

Maths would be beneficial especially if you are going to study networking and so on.

Id say deffo get your GCSE english and Maths as you never know you will be asked by employer if you have them. As daft as it sounds, a lot of employers will knock you back for a job if you don't have maths and english, even if you have a HND or NVQ. £100 is a bargain if you ask me. Jim

If you never went any further in mainstream academics than GCSE, then I'd agree, it would be good to get them.

My other half kept saying he was going to retake them - got similair grades to yours I think - but he's doing an electrical engineering degree, and once he's got that, GCSE grades become a moot point really.

But no, from the sounds of your circumstances, I'd give it a blast :)

It can only help, while it doesn't really apply to me (I didn't do the GCSE's as I went thru the US/Philipine high school system). I have seen a few courses and jobs requiring GCSE's of C & above.

Saying that, I'm the kinda manager who doesn't take too much notice of GCSE results if you have additional/relevant qualifications, experience and soft skills :)

I like your style Ken. I'd be the same myself. If you had an MCSA/MCSE and some experience I wouldn't care if you had the GCSE's BUT I know a lot of places such as local councils, and generally any civil service appointments make a bit more of a deal of them (Mate works as a Civil Servant).
