Well I've just landed myself a new job, I've been at my current role for over 3 years and thought it was time to jump ship (for various reasons). My new role is as an IT Manager/Network admin for a private company, currently working in the public sector. Theres a couple a good perks to the new role firstly I get back into the AD/Exchange world that most people live in (my current employer uses Novell products), and also theres a tidy little payrise when I start nothing fantastic but it would take me donkeys years to up my wage here (I've not had a payrise for 2 years so far).

Also the company is quite small at present I'd say around 30 people in the main office, but i'm not sure about the remote sites but appears to be growing quite nicely (my role is a newly created post).

It is a bit of a risk at the moment taking on a new role as you get back into the probationary period shinanigans but I think its a risk worth taking for the benefits.

I've also had a couple of firsts with this new job, its the first time I've ever got a job through a recruiter (they are normally just an irritation) and also the first time actually I can confess to being a bit sad at leaving my current role (really good IT team here). So I've had to focus alot on the skills and experience I would gain from moving on.

Anyway just thought I'd do a quick post just to show you its not completely static at the moment and companies do appear to be growing.

thanks everyone, I seem to be going backwards in regards to the amount of users to support (6000,400,50-ish), but hopefully this experience will put me in good stead a few hops down the line.
