Well, some of you, anyway. I came home to a nice surprise this afternoon...a royalty cheque from Sybex. Apparently sales of the PC Street Smarts and MCTS SharePoint books are good. I can't say "thanks" to each and every person who's bought my books (unless they all come and read this thread, of course), but I thought I'd make a public statement anyway. It's a very "tangible" way to measure how well your work is received by folks. Cheers.

That is great Trip. Nice to see some of that hard work your all doing is finally paying off. So, when the wife saw the check did she start pushing you back in your home office and tell you to get back to typing?

 

Just to add my bit... Bought your book along with mike meyers aio and it has really helped me along my way to becoming A+ certified... Congrats

no cheque from Visual then classmate has gone to get Master Visual Win Server03 after having a flick of my copy.

 

Actually, she basically told me not to get cocky and that one cheque didn't exactly set us up for life (wives are God's way of making sure men don't get too full of themselves). . It's my agent who's been pushing me to write another book. I did submit a book proposal to her, but the jury is still out as far as finding a publisher for it (can't say anything else about it).

As far as the "Visual" Server 2003 book, it never did very well in terms of sales. I'm kind of embarrassed by it in a way. It was my first book and I had no idea what I was doing at the time. I do credit the experience with teaching me some valuable lessons about book writing, so that I could be more knowledgeable and skilled in my subsequent books.

 

I think tripwire45 just prints off the forum and sends it to the publishers once in a while ...

I have said it before and I'll say it again the PC Technician street smarts book is invaluable for anyone studying the A+.

Getting a royalty cheque is the least you deserve.

Recently took delivery of the SharePoint book. Looks to be a good addition to my library...

 

Bought it when I bought the SharePoint book... looks interesting.

 

Glad the books are doing well! I got your Street Smarts book when I bought the Sybex A+ box set. Very useful it was too, hey it helped me pass my A+!!! Thanks for producing such a great piece of literature!

I wish I could say the same... sales of the Vista book are extremely slow, despite good reviews.

 

Maybe it's just the fact that, as has been alluded to on CF, business isn't buying into Vista in a big way.

Pity though, because the more I see of it, the more I like it. And your book helped me with my MCITP too, albeit it in a small way.

 

A few of us have it though, when/if people start to trust Vista I'm sure the sales will go up.

 

Unless and until Windows 7 is released. Hah!

Ah well... I wasn't counting on a royalty check... but it'd be cool to get one.

 

Get writing the new one as soon as 7 is released, then you'll be onto a winner

 

No can do: my employment relationship with Boson prohibits me from writing any further certification-related books.

That's not to say I won't be creating any other type of books in the future...
