    Hello all,
Is it Ok for me to sit the A+ OS exam before I do the A+ Hardware?
its just that I am more confident with the OS and would rather get that out of the way first before attempting the hardware!

As I understand it you can sit the A+ exams in any order that you like. :biggrin

Take whichever one you find yourself most comfortable with first. It's out of the way,so to speak, and allows you to concentrate on the second exam without distraction.I'm toying with the idea of doing both exams back-to-back too,but I will admit that my weakness so far is the OS

There are those that consider the A+ to be easy and those that perhaps give it less credit than it deserves, but either way you will need to study and be ready for the exams when YOU are comfortable with taking them.Keep up the good work, study hard and you'll pass whichever order you decide to take them in.

    Good luck.

thanks to everyone for the congratulations, much appreciated.

You really think OS is harder?, I find OS easier, there is more stuff to memorise in the hardware IMO, like those dreaded IRQ nos, memory addresses, SCUSI types etc etc.

With the OS, I already had lots of configuring installing Windows experience on mine and friends' computers so I found that most of it was just common sense if you see what I mean.

On the other hand my practical experience of hardware is almost nil. The only hardware experience I have is installing RAM and installing CD/DVD-RW drives on my computer and configuring the jumper settings!

any1 know how these marks are worked out and if you get any marks for getting a question partly right, ie if you have to pick two options in a Question and you only pick one correct one?

CompTIA seem to deliberately not give full details.

What we know is that some questions are not marked at all - they are there to try out future questions.

Marks range from 100 to 900. I presume that different questions get different weights.

Further than that there seems to be little or no information.
