Are there any websites with good information on OSPF or BGP about? I'll be buying a CCNP book as soon as I can afford to but just wanted to get started somewhere.

    Hi Mark

I would recommend for the two for starters the following manual from cisco press: http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587052237, it covers the essentials.

If you want to get really into each of the topics then I would go for the following two manuals:

    OSPF: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Command-Configuration-Handbook-Professional-Development/dp/1587055406/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266401156&sr=8-1

    Or OSPF again: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Designing-Networks-Cisco-Design-Implementation/dp/1578700469/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266401156&sr=8-6

I have both and they are great!!!

For BGP there can only be one book and it this one here, it's soooooo good that I have taken it on holiday with me as my beach read, (Don't laugh, fiction is for fools): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Internet-Routing-Architectures-Cisco-Press/dp/157870233X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266401322&sr=8-1

Hope it helps. Nothing like a good technical manual !!

As for Websites, I generally go to cisco's website if I want the low down on how stuff works.

It's sound bizarre, but reading fiction is like eating candy floss, no substance and leaves you empty!!

Forget checking out the "scenery", BGP is much more of a handfull

Thanks guys, but this post is 6 months old... :)

I've got it nailed now... I was thrown into an ISP job and had to pick things up fast... luckily the other engineers were nice enough to explain a lot of things to me and help me out.

Was given this book to study for BGP and its quite nice:
