I have been following this game since I heard about it on IGN at the start of last year.

I want to try before I buy though.

 

Has it been released???? I have been watching the website but I heard it was going to be some time in the future...

 

I think i've ended up buying every MMO ever made by a Tier 1 company lol, been playing them for close to 15 years now

I pre ordered so am in the beta
working my way to a better ship

 

The verdict is positive so far then?

I'm tempted but my expectations of Space MMOs have been set rather high thanks to an extended time playing EvE, hopefully something can take my attention or I'll find myself playing WoW again.

 

I played EVE a LOT
but it wasnt exactly what everyone wants from a space MMO
its VERY complex, its VERY much the thinking mans MMO

That said, STO is a bit more arcady, not WoW arcady, but space combat is like Bridge commander, its real time, you roll and pitch to align your shields, whilst trying to hit the same side of the enemy to actually take down their shields in one place, torps hurt hull, phasers hurt shields, its a bit more actiony

ground combat is nothing special, but its an MMO, when is it ever?

Positive so far, although its very early days and the games still in beta (lots of bug fixing)

so we start playing 29th not 2nd
should be a Lt Cmdr by the 2nd and have a real ship

Hmmn, could be good. What happened to the Stargate online game ? Is that (still) in development ?
