    Hi all.

    Not posted for ages -sorry.
Not had a huge amount to say, but sat at home ill and feeling sorry for myself today so may as well.

It's not IT - but may appeal to the terminally geeky (Trip, are you there?)

What I've been wondering is, if it came to a bust up between the evil Galactic Empire (I'm talking Star Wars originail trilliogy) and the Federation (Star Trek TNG/DS9/VOY era) who would win and why?

that depends if it was sith and jedi vs star trek peoplem I reckon the star wars lot would win, as they could use mind powers to crash the star trek lots spaceships :)

There's no doubt that the federation would win.

Cpt Kirk would rush in phasers blazing, get his shirt ripped, have a fight, sweet talk the Emperor into surrendering with some fancy Corbomite Maneuver then warp off in the Enterprise laughing with Spock and Bones

Not sure who would win.. personally I like AJ's choice of Kirk as the federation Champion.....but I would love to see.... a Borg Jedi now that would be something to fear!

    How about this.

    Imperial II Star Destroyer:
    count - 25,000 ships
    length - 1,600 metres
    crew - 37, 085

    Federation Galaxy Class Starship:
    count - 10 ships?
    length - 641 metres
    crew - 1014

    Not really fair, is it?

Then you've got Cpt Picard standing manly on the bridge stating in his classical English voice that they are here in peace and would like to talk about options. Data would analyse all the options and declare that he wishes that he was human. Bill Ryker, whilst trying not to fall in love with the ships councillor (any anything else remotely female) would be preparing an away team to kick some serious alien ass. when the fight is over they would all be on the bridge looking very smug and Cpt Picard looking all serious would say simply "Make it so".

    Neither side would win.

The Borg would get word of the battle and join in, assimilating BOTH sides.

    Hmmm......Picard and Vader assimilated........Darth Locutious.

Let's face it, The federation only have so many secutity staff in red shirts that can get killed on each away mission. The Empire have literally thousands of Stormtroopers willing to die. Mass of numbers wins here!

I dont know much about star wars, I dont really like it, (im a trekkie so I am not allowed to like star wars). But from what I know about star wars it begins with, "a long time ago in a galaxay far far away) which means the time lines are totally screwed. Who knows if the jedi even exist in the 23rd/24th earth century!

    geekage ahoy!:tomato

Well I'm a Star Trek and Star Wars fan and like them both. That said, I don't know how you'd make a comparision. Neither franchise is as much about science fiction as they are about their own particular universe, brand of adventure and yes, marketing their wares. Asking if Star Fleet could defeat the Evil Empire (at what point in history for each?) is like asking if the Jedi could defeat the Borg. Neither are "designed" to battle the other.

The nice thing about the Jedi vs. Sith and Star Fleet vs. Borg is that they are built to fight each other. They're suited to be enemies. I'm not sure what Kirk would do if faced with Darth Vader (though, I'm sure he'd make a pass at Princess Leia) and what would Luke Skywalker do with the Borg Queen (we have an idea of how Data handled the situation)?

The reason that the questions seem so "alien" is that these two universes are galaxies (in some ways, literally) apart, if you'll excuse the mixed terminology. If you could have gotten George Lucas and Gene Roddenbery together for a brain storming session, maybe together, they could have written an interesting story to answer the question. As it is, we'll just have to dream.

    True, but cop-out answer!

On our planet, we deal with familiar situations.
But, what if the USA went to war with Jersey?

You could argue that they aren't designed to fight each other either, but it is only the 'rules' of our planet and species that make this evident.

So in an infinate universe, all things are possible - indeed it could be said that all things must in fact occur!

I think it would go something like this: link

It's more believeable if you don't notice Ro Laren change into Wesley Crusher, and Wesley change uniforms twice. :D Hah!
