    Hi folks.
I have posted before about it management but am also looking to brush up on my sql skills. I really enjoyed studying database development at university and think it would really help in my current and future jobs. What certs / qualifications are available to help me get back into this area. The obvious are ms and oracle but is there any others?
    Thanks, ste.

    There's the MySQL certification track.

Their certification levels start at Associate which would be entry level, you can see here for the certification guide.

All the main DB vendors have certification tracks, IBM DB2, MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, and Sybase.

I would think twice about doing MYSQL as who knows what Sun are going to do with it in the future.

Unfortunately that's like saying don't buy a car at the minute as you don't know if the manufacturer will still be around in the next few years.

Granted it is unknown what Sun is going to do with MySQL, however with thousands of companies actually using the DB (or systems based on that DB) around the world, I highly doubt that Sun will drop MySQL overnight.
