As IT Tech's, we advise users to drag, scandisk, back data up often, to ensure smooth running of pc's... But how often do we do it?

I'll start with my self.

Weekly - I'll run ccleaner, and ensure the option secure deletion (NSA 7 Passes) is selected, and spy/ad ware crap aswell.

Monthly - Uninstall any crap that i may have installed, back data up, then do a thorough scandisk and defrag.

6 Month Period - Do a clean install of Windows and start again.

1 Year - Open the machine up, and clean the insides, so its dust free, make sure everything is slotted in correctly.

Ok im a little different lol.

Daily - Ccleaner before I shutdown the machine for the night.
Weekly - Defrag at least twice a week, spyware + adware scans, scandisk etc.
Monthly - Uninstall any apps I dont use anymore. And clean up dust and crap inside my machine.

Kraven

 

Weekly - Spybot, ZA - Spyware, Adware, Frontier, CWSshredder. Antivirus

Monthly Defrag, backup files, norton Ultilities 2005.

 

AV, spyware etc - update and quick scan every night and full scan on sunday al scheduled.

Defrags are done by diskkeeper

Backup image is monthly, but other stuff like IE shortcuts etc are done weekly or whenever i remember

files are stored on my server and backed up to LTO, encrypted DVDs are posted bi monthly out of the country and stored in a safety deposit box
TrueCrypt for encryption
Eraser for secure file deletion

PC is cleaned internally as and when needed

 

My next spring clean up on my PC will be it being dumped out the window

 

avg, and spyware updated every morning and night. Run full scan weekly.

Defrag monthly.

Never do a back up. If I feel I need to save something I burn it right then.

Open the case up and blow it out weekly. Can't have my new cpu and mb dusty.
