So everyone knows show ip route

Example I was trying to find a route for 30.3.15.15 in my router.

    ex:
    SH IP ROUTE

    S 30.3.8.0/21 [1/0] via 10.78.40.2
    *Many other routes omitted*

Notice you might not tell right away that this is the route for 30.3.15.15.

But to get a specific route for an address try:

    sh ip route [ip address]

    Example:

    sh ip route 30.3.15.15

    Routing entry for 30.3.8.0/21
Known via "static", distance 1, metric 0
    Redistributing via bgp 18040
    Advertised by bgp 18040 route-map REDIST_STATIC
    Routing Descriptor Blocks:
    * 10.78.40.2
Route metric is 0, traffic share count is 1

Pretty cool huh? yeah...you learn something new everyday. Or at least I do. Now if I was a vampiric-starbucks drinking Brain..I might learn something new every other day....

    Neat trick.

One of these days, I'm gonna have a go at BGP myself. But that would have to wait until after my exams.

It makes sense that you should be able to enter in a host address on a router and get back what entry in the routing table it will use to forward the packets but..I never put 2 + 2 together until last night with the command

    sh ip route xxxx.yyyy.xxxx.yyyy

Another neat command is sh interface coutners errors. Although it might not work on some IOS versions or with some interface configs. I have seen its output but cant seem to get an output on it tonight with the two sites I checked.
