Hi,

I bought the MCITP: Server Admin study kit, which includes an eval copy of Server 2008. There is no activation key in or on the box and there are no instructions on what to do when during the install one is prompted for the key. I chose not to put one in, despite dire warning messages. Turns out I was right.

After several hours of searching the disorganised MS web site I finally stumbled upon this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948472 where it is all explained in plain English. I thought I share this with those who may find themselves in the same situation.

Just to add, you can do the slmgr -rearm upto three times.

 

As documented in the kb article. I wish I could find another document I found a while back. It was a diagram showing the max number of rearms overlayed with other information. Maybe i will find it again in my web travels.
