does any one know where i can find some exercises for the 2003 r2 server software so i can learn about it a bit better? i've managed to get my head round AD and assign users, group permissions and reset passwords etc but i'm sure there's more to do, i just don't know where to start.

Poke around on technet. There used to be a whole lot for server 2000 that I also printed so there should be some for 2003.
