I have recently purchased SelfTest software from their web site as they were doing a 25% off. Well I have also started going through the practice test and can't stop thinking hang on a minute the format looks so much like transcender.

However, I only also found out that they were bought out by Transcender not too long ago. Well to cut a long story short I have used this product in the NT4 days and thought it was good along side that of MeasureUp, but to be honest don't like the small print of MeasureUP and the long essays.

Anyway, just want to know your opinion if you use this or Transcender as your main exam mock practice test or if there are other legitimate ones other the the this SelfTest, Transcender and MeasureUP. Please, don't mention Preplogic as I think they're not of the same quality or near in comparison to what the actual exam might ask. Please, not asking for brain dumps either. Thanks in advance, as I am looking on taking on the beast shortly 70-291.

Transcender use to be the best in the field. However, your going back in time to when Mike and Josh and way before their days. A couple of years ago a friend of mine who lives and breaths certs said they could tell quality was lost in them. I don't know if it is still true. I've not heard anyone using T in a long time. I do know they won't ever be what they use to be.

I use transcender, well i have no choice as im with a training provider (and before you say it yes, i know i should not have gone with one but im paying for it now so i may as well use everything they have)

I cant really compare it to anything else as its the only exam simulation software i have used, other then the self paced learning kit CD-ROM.

One problem i have is after you have done the questions a few times, you kind of subcontiously (if thats how you spell it) remember what the answers are, so a question will come up and you know the answer without having to read it, or unless my memory is just toooo good :biggrin lol

I find transcender easier then the study review questions on the manuals CD, it is laid out very well, and i like the explanations about each question, so you know where you are going wrong, and more importantly, why.

    Just my 2p's worth

Thanks for the feedback all, would just have to go through the practice software and sit the exam to find out if it was worth it.

The reason Self Test and Transcender look so close now is because they are owned by the same company and contain identical content, save for the fact that Transcender contains 10% more content than the Self Test product. As has already been mentioned, both BosonMichael and myself used to work for Transcender. I started there in 2000 and saw the company get sold twice before I left in 2005. Michael started a year after me and also left in 2005. By the time that we left, the content was largely being written in India and none of the original Transcender authors were left at the company.

A few years after we left Transcender, we found out that one of the original Transcender founders bought Boson, and we've been here ever since. The attitude and philosophy at Boson now is like it was in the old days of Transcender, which is why I'm here. I recommend you check out our demo exams (as well as those of our competitors) and judge for yourself on which one works best for your needs.

If you're dead set on buying either Self Test or Transcender, I recommend getting the Self Test product. The extra 10% of content is not worth the extra cost for the Transcender product.

Just to clarify, Transcender didn't buy SelfTest; SelfTest bought Transcender. And it was quite a while ago... announced in December 2003 and finalized February 2004, to be exact. They kept 8 or 9 of us out of 48ish employees. Josh and I stuck with it until 2005 - I couldn't stomach the lack of attention to quality anymore.

When the former owners of Transcender called me up and asked if we'd like to come to work for Boson, I didn't have any question as to whether they'd be committed to putting out high-quality materials... I already knew. :)

If the spelling has Improved then transcender or self test should be ok to use. Although if Boson do one I would recommend them.

It's not the spelling I'd be concerned about. Spelling errors are easily overlooked. It's technical errors and grammatical/understandability problems that I'd be more concerned with. Not saying that they have them, because I haven't seen them since 2005 when I left. But it's certainly something you want to look for in the demo before you buy.
