    Hello Everybody

I was just wondering about self study, i have read some posts about doing and it does sound alot better and cheaper than going through a training company.
So how do u go about doing the exams ? and does the exam fees differ on the course

I am starting from scratch basically and would like 2 get into the technical side of I.T so would A+ be the 1st step

well the exams, you can book yourself at a test centre:

http://www.prometric.com/default.htm - this is the prometric test site, go there and see if they are available in your area.

There is also another company called Pearson Vue, but I dont have thier website at the moment. I will go find it for you :D

I will also see how much the exam costs :D

You can find both sets of testing companies and their prices from CompTIA's website. For the A+ exam look here.

Edit: Look in the A+ section of the forums for recomended books etc.

Of the currently published books for the current objectives (2003) that one is usualy reckoned to be the best. As usual it always pays to read around the subject - so if your funds can stretch to it get a second book as well.
