    Hi guys, :biggrin

As some of you may know, I have recently passed 70-291. Adding to my 70-270 and 70-290 which no means I have an elective exam.

I was thinking about ISA but I dont think it really appeals to me.

Looked at the Security + LabSim stuff and it looks very good, can anyone explain what your getting with this exam?

Do you actually learn in depth about different aspects of security or is it just principles and a general overview?

Perfect man to answer your question Daniel. I've passed 2008 Security+ and studied for then failed 70-351 the ISA 2006 exam.

IMO definitely go for Security+. Its a cert that never expires and is vendor neutral, unlike MS certs which are based on a specific technology. I love the MS stuff but having Sec+ just gives you something a bit different that will count toward your MCSA/MCSE.

Sec+ is a general security cert that covers a wide range of subjects but IMO will give you a great foundation in security. ISA exams so 70-350 or 351 are only about that software so unless your company uses it, I'd swerve it as most firms use Cisco or Juniper hardware firewalls in my experience.

I failed 351 with 650 or something like that because no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find quality study materials. In the end I had to watch the CBT Nuggets for ISA 2004 as there weren't any for 2006! Do a quick search and see if there's more out but myself and BosonMike reckoned at the time if they hadn't brought much out, they never would.

    So Security+ for sure.

    Jim

**Edit, have you thought about 70-299? I did that and Sec+ to get my MCSA:Security :)

    Thanks for the post Jim!

Since you describe Security + as giving a foundation in security, I would more than likely do the 70-299 after I did Security +, would be a good learning curve as I find security is the weakest of my areas in all exams :biggrin

Security+ would deffo help you get a decent foundation. 70-299 is another matter ha ha Its similar in difficulty to . . . . . 70-291  IMO, but very good stuff to be learned studying for it.
