I've been asked to see if i can find a way of searching for folder directories, from a web page. (This is sort of a bit of both web hosting / programming, but i stuck it in this forum, feel free to move mods if need be )

Basically, we have a server housing archives of old work - and every now and again people need to access it, this is currently done via coldfusion, but we'd rather move away from that as it's old, and we're not paying the license fee to upgrade and use it on server 2008, the current server it's on is win2k!

Is there a way, either via PHP, or ASP.NET that a simple search can look onto a server share, and print results back, with a link to the location?

EDIT: and also to search an MS Access database

Any advice/help greatly appreciated!
