RIP Steve "Crikey" Erwin

 

RIP, you will be sadly missed.

 

I can't believe this happened.

Makes you realise that all that time, none of what he was doing was 'staged' like it is with so many other naturalists who put themselves in apparently 'dangerous' situations.

I suppose this is an empty platitude, and its often trotted out in situations like this (Marc Vivien-Foe springs to mind), but at least he died doing what he loved.

RIP mate - I'll miss you.

Every time I used to see him on TV I'd say to the wife 'Oooh, he's going to come to some harm one day!'

What a loss to the animal world. To run Australia Zoo must be no mean feat in itself, and to then be a world-renowned TV croc doc on top of that says it all !!

Who would have wagered it was a stingray that took him ?? Well, it shows how he loved all of the animal kingdom.

RIP, Steve - god rest your family.

I couldn't quite believe it when I saw the news, for some reason I'd just assumed he was indestructable.

A truly great ambassador for natures animals, he will sorely be missed.

 

Yesterday was a sad day for me and the wife. We are such big fans of Steve's work and his inimitable style and character. It came as a big shock to the whole country and the world, so it seems.

He was the real thing.

RIP big guy.

 

I knew it was going to happen soon or later, but by a stingray?

I loved his shows as well, full of enthusiasm and bordering on lunacy.

RIP Steve you will be missed by many.

 

He was one of a kind, whether you hated him or loved him, you will miss him

I loved the guy, He was almost part of the family here in our home. My son (19) went white as a sheet when he sat and watched it on the news, he never missed one of Steve's shows, he was first in the queue to see his film too.

The world has lost a true ambassador for Nature and conservation.

It's no consolation, but at least he went doing what he was devoted to and always seemed to love every minute of .......how many of us will be that lucky.

My heart felt sorry goes out to his wife Teri and 2 children, Bindi Sue and Bob, long may he be remembered, we all hope his work will be continued through his family for many many generations.

Teri - Deepest condolences to you and yours, from me and mine.
