Which of the following directories *must* be located on the same partition as the root directory? Choose three:

    1. /bin
    2. /etc
    3. /home
    4. /media
    5. /proc
    6. /sbin

Answer time: The correct answer is 1, 2, and 6. While the other options *can* exist on the root directory, they do not *have* to exist there in order for the box to function. /bin contains the executable files accessed by users and /sbin contains the executables used by the system. /etc contains the configurations files. These are all necessary to the machine to boot at start up.
