Got my first exam on Thursday and was just wondereing on the marking of the exam. I've being doing the measure up tests and when you have question with multiple answers (select all that apply) is it a case of you get it right or wrong or do you get points for the number of answers you get right.

    Any info appreicated.

Not really. MS states on its website that partially correct answers CAN score point. They don't say they WILL score, but they can. The truth is we don't know.

i thought that may be the case.

Well... not all exams will have 1000 as the "perfect score"... some may be 1000, but others may be higher or lower. In short, Microsoft doesn't reveal what the maximum score is for any given exam.

read teh blurb before the test when you get there it will give details on how the marking works, even though its quite vague that is all we know.

the harder the question teh more points they are worth.

its around 25 points per question.

I have seen people with 1000 points and all their bars where full. Some years back I have seen people with scores over 1000 points, but as said, that was a few years back (windows 2000 exams). I have never seen results with full bars and a score less than 1000. BTW, scores of 1000 points are rare.
I have seen people who ended their exam (by mistake) before they had answered any question. They had a score of 0 points.
It is not fixed that every question in the exam scores the same amount of points. It is not sure every question score points at all. The last can be explained by the fact that MS sometimes puts in test questions.
These are there to possibly enlarge the question database. Off course they have to be tested first.

Actually, Microsoft has neither confirmed nor denied that harder questions are worth more points.

How so, when not all Microsoft exams have 50 questions?

Plus, Microsoft adds in unscored questions from time to time... meaning, you may not get ANY points for some questions.

One simply cannot rely on guessing that they'll get approximately 25 points per question. It's just not accurate.

It is not that sneeky. Every hint on whatever could make exams easier.
If for instance you would find out that a simulated desktop question scores 200 points, where would you concentrate on? The other way, if you would find out that simulated desktop questions would only score 10 points, you would probably care less if you fail them.
By not telling anything MS makes sure you concentrate on ALL questions.

...which is how it should be. 8)

After all, do you want to pass an exam, or do you want to have a complete understanding of the material so you can be a better tech?
