There has been a lot of hype this year that this year is the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. A lot of things have been happening over the UK this year, the International Fleet Review where the Queen reviewed her fleet and some from friendly nations, the International Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth and this weekend there was the beacon lighting around the country and the parade, church service and show in Trafalgar Square tomorrow (Sunday).

Now I'm not one to boast, well not too often anyway. As I have said before, both of my kids are involved with the Northampton Sea Cadets. Every year the cadets march in October through Trafalgar Square to celebrate Nelson and the battle. This year the Commander-in-Chief of the Sea Cadet corps, HRH Prince Andrew will be reviewing the guard. He will also be laying a wreath along with 9 other cadets at Nelsons Column. Guess what, my son Stuart will be not only be on parade there but also part of the wreath laying party.

Unfortunatly I can't get down to London to see this, so I shall be glued to the telly to see all the coverage that there is.

I feel so proud that my lad is part of a national event like this. Not only him but all the other Cadets that are from our Unit.

I just thought I'd share that with you all and if you do watch the highlights on Sunday (BBC 2 8.00pm) his name is Stuart.

Brilliant news, AJ - that's real lump-in-the-throat stuff, and for all the right reasons. You and Missus AJ should be rightfully proud. I will surely be watching as well. Nice one :thumbleft

As I said before, I'm not one to brag, well not too much. Stuart was on Sky News live doing his bit. Me and the misses were watching it with lumps in our throats.

Anyway he's back now and vert tired.

Thanks for your thoughts guys, but you know proud parents and all that.
