Ok so today i'd thought i'd take a look at my Profile on CF and change a few minor things. Looking at it i've not filled in many of the boxes, and this got me thinking... (ok i know thats dangerous fro my health).

How many members fill out most of the profile boxes, like the ones about hobbies and interests or brief description. And why do you do it? Also does anyone on here look at others profiles, other than thier certs, and contact them to talk about things like thier hobbies etc??? I never have done, i leave that to things like facebook etc but do people do it on here?

And what sort of thing do you put down?

I try to be truthful, with a touch of sarcasm.

I put what I'm interested in, culture-wise, and always try to find the most attractive picture of myself in existence at the time of filling out the profile :tongue

I have contacted members here about their hobbies and interests, but it has normally been instigated by something they've written in a thread, as opposed to seeing it in a profile.

I think profile details have started one or two threads - for example, the disproportionate amount of people interested in IT that like alternative music styles.

My profile is quite 'fleshed out' on here, as well as being detailed on Facebook and MySpace. I personally think that, with me, it's because I spend such a ridiculous amount of time online. I have so many friends, and speak to so many people, it's my way of 'keeping in touch' as it were. I try to be careful about personal details such as contact phone numbers and addresses, because let's face it, online fraud happens. But that will never stop me from socialising.

it is a habit for me to check profiles. Spammers usually gives themselves up on them. I also like to look at my friends profiles. It is just one more way of getting to know someone a little bit better.

I personally don't go and start looking particularly on peoples profiles. It doesn't happen much at all, unless someone contacted me and I wanted to know who they are.

I do write some stuff like hobbies, favorite activities, etc but I keep it short.

Profiles are a greatly expressive hidden gem, IMHO. I vary mine depending on circumstance, mood, position, etc. I don't randomly check out others' profiles though, unless something catches the eye, or I find their reputation impressive for whatever reason.

I usually list information in my profile, and I look for info on other peoples profiles.
