...and I'm trying to convince management to just get a couple of new machines in.

Is there a technical reason why the following machine would take approximately 3 minutes to get to desktop, and approximately 1 minute to open the menu screen of Sage Line 200:

    Intel Xeon 1.4
    128MB RAM

running Windows XP Pro. It's a typical bare workstation; no heavy graphics, no sound, minimal peripherals. Any takers? Oh, there's no viruses either. And it connects to a network at 100Mb/s

anything running 128mb will run slow... if they dont want to upgrade the machine - down grade to Windows 2000 pro.

this is the point i was trying to make earlier - companies are running alot those these machines that cant handle Win Xp Pro - how many years till they get vista machines??:blink i think ms is shooting itself if its hoping people will upgrade or buy new machines to have vista.
