    Hi All

Just to let you know that now that the new desktop roleout is almost finishedhere at work, we are looking at replacing the servers and guess what..........

I have claimed one and the head of IT says that it's mine if I want it, click here to have a look

The machine on the right is roughly the size of the average tower, so you can see how big it is......................now........must tell the wife!!!!!

Nelix, you know, for a man about to get married, I would NOT like to be announcing that new procurement to the (soon-to-be) Wife :!:

Still, from a guy's point of view - NICE MACHINE !!!!!!! Good luck, mate

And what size of wire do you have plugged into you house?

That machine looks like it could do with a serious connection.... have you told the soon-to-be wife that fact yet as well? :)

Let us know when its set up and your handing out the web space!

You've got a lot of guts for a guy who's about to get married, Derek. BTW, as I recall you mentioned in a previous thread that you have limited space in your home. Where's this monster going to fit?

What are the specs on your new server? What plans do you have for it? Most importantly....what are you gonna name it? 8)

Well I just showed Mrs Nelix the picture of it and she was a bit shocked to say the least, the first words out of her mouth were "what do you want that for".....my response...."because it's free", nothing more has been mentioned, I think she will have something to say when I ask her to give me a hand to get it out of the car LOL.

I aim to keep it under the stairs and am planning on running it as my DC running AD, Mail server, Proxy, fileserver and anything else it can handle.

All I know about the spec so far is that it has a Xeon Processor, will investigate further tomorrow at work and keep you informed.

I am going away for a couple of days again on tuesday so might not be able to update you all untill the backend of the week

P.S. Havent thought of a name for it yet.......Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated
