    Just wanted to let everyone know that I have passed the Network+ with a 820. I used the Mike Meyer's book and only used Lammle's book on the topic for subnetting. I didn't feel comfortable because I thought the test was hard. For anyone whoms nervous, I'll say go for it.

    CompTIA indicated that anyone certified prior to January 1, 2011 are certified for life. If a candidate passes one of the exams on December 31, 2010, is he or she certified for life or under the new policy in 2011. I am asking because the CompTIA site states that it takes them 5 days to process your results after you passed an exam at one of the testing centers. From the example I have indicated, that means by the time CompTIA processed the results, it will be January 5, 2011 which falls under the new policy. I just wanted to be clear on the policy if a candidate is certified for life when he or she passes the exam. Thanks.

    Anyone can recommend me a book for Security+? I hope I can knock that off in a week.

    As far as I would be aware the pass date/timestamp is the one on the printed result when you walk out of the centre, the rest is just confirmation.

    Please don't take the above as how they would do it, just my opinion.

    Agree with Notes_Bloke on the Syngress book, very good, just ignore the end of chapter questions that are wrong/poorly worded. I found the All-In-One also gave a slightly different perspective on some topics, worth having both.

    31st is fine I believe, they record the date you sit the exam and thats the date that gets printed on your
    Certificate, the rest is just paperwork

    Certainly hope so as I have security+ on the 31st!

    @obsolete

    Just curious how your doing with the Security+?

    I'm using the All-In-One 2nd Ed, about a third of the way through but hope to crack out a load in the next couple of days before my exam on friday.

    Cheers
