Passed N+ today, not as hard as I thought it might be, although a few too many questions on Novell Netware for my liking !

Found this a useful last minute revision guide :-

Congratulations on the pass. You might not see too many Novell Netware networks out there but there are some. If you ever encounter one and need to work in that environment, it will help if you have some idea what the thing even is.

That said, there are still places using Windows NT servers and workstations...not many but they exist. Often these old work horses have been doing their jobs for years and continue to do what the users need them for. In their eyes, "if it's not broke, don't fix it".

Well I'm just doing the N+ and S+ to ensure I'm prepared for the CEH, most of its stuff i've seen one way or another over the years. I've never officially been in sys admin / support so while I've used netware I never installed or configured it.

I'm a developer / software architect so chances of me having to personally troubleshoot an old novell system are low and the N+ wouldn't really prepare me for that adequately anyway. Your points are probably valid for other readers though !

As for legacy, I've had to deal with mini computers, mainframes, COBOL and FORTRAN amongst others. In some environments its not uncommon for stuff to hang around for 20 years. I had to struggle not to laugh in a recent interview when they described their Java 1.1 based system as 'legacy'. :blink
