This morning I dit it: passed the first time for my CCNA 640-802 exam.:D

    I used:
Todd Lammle's CCNA study guide 5th edition
CBT Nuggets CCNA with Jeremy Cioara
    CCNA Network visualizer 6.0
    Cisco's CCNA quick reference sheets
and a little help from my friends at this forum.

Also purchased 2611xm router, 2950 and 1900 switches for real time practise and tear-off the paper-ccna encapsulation.

During the test time is of the essence: you barely have enough time to complete the test.
I experienced it as a very thorough but fair test.

    Total time invested: 4 months

Thats great that you passed mate well done... can i ask what you was doing previous to this... and was you already dealing with cisco routers/switches.... also how have you found it getting a job... with ccna was you able to get into a junior networking role or what steps did you take to put the CCNA into use..

i am currently a support analyst... what im wondering is... i spend 4-6 months watever.. passing the exam.. but is it realistic for me to expect a company to employ me based on passing CCNA and allow me to be on the network team in that way..

    what was your experience?

    thanks mate.

That's useful feedback thanks. I have my exam on Tuesday. I have been studying for 3 months. I feel pretty confident on the theory and I am ok ish on the subnet questions but the sim questions worry me.

I bought 3 x 2610xm routers and 2 2950 catalyst switches to practice on so I am going to spend the long weekend doing as many labs as I can find.

I will let you know how I get on.

P.S. I also used Todd Lammle's book, Test Out videos, CBT nuggets, Train Signal, CCNA Mentor.

I also went on Networks Inc's 2 day course in London. (Mainly as I had never so much as touched a Cisco before studying).

I also downloaded the RFCs for many of the key concepts like IPv6, private addressing etc. They are hard work to read but good background information.

    Cheers

    Jamie
