Professor Messer Free online course (free to view on his web site and on youtube, cost $200 to download), as for books Microsoft Press 70-680 Configuring Windows 7, Pearson Windows 7 Portable Command Guide... and parts of Windows 7 Inside Out (:

Now the question is MCITP 70-685 or Apple Certified Associate exam next...

I would stick with the 685 first to get the MCITP under your belt and then you can look at the enemy (apple) cert :)

I have been using the Prof Messer vids online, and I did have an ebook of the MS Press Book but too many errors made it hard for me to read, as my eyes kept on moving from one error to another, so instead I have bought the Don Poulton book which I think is widely remarked as being good (i hope).

    many congrats again though.

"Enemy" lol well I'm platform neutral...even tho i was raised on Dos 3.11

Yep, the MS Press book was full of errors and i had to re-read some pages 2 or more times to understand what it was trying to teach.

    Thanks :)

Yeah, by continuing with 70-685, you still have lots of concepts fresh in your head and not muddled by differences between operating systems if you were to do the Apple cert next, and it opens you up for new certification titles. You're an MCTS now, but next you'd also be able to add the words MCITP into your CV, and that's always nice as well :)

The MCSA:Windows 7 is an extra bonus that I only found out about yesterday after double checking the MCITP.

And to all, I'm loving having MCTS on my CV. 6 hours after updating my CV and already 2 possible IT jobs in central London :)

i carried on with the 685 after the 680 and I certainly found it helpful having the knowledge and labs fresh in my head.

    Hi,
You've given yourself a great xmas gift. Congratulations.

Just to add my 2c. Do then 685 next - there's substantial overlap between the 680 and 685 (I'd say the 685 is a real-world, hands-on version of the 680). If you go off and do another totally different cert in the middle, you're likely to just push useful information out of your active memory - all that stuff about PE, Windows SIM, DISM, etc. - these SHOULD be done together in my view (I didn't have a choice! Had blagged my way into a new job and they were pushing me hard - I think I did the exams just a few weeks apart - it didn't hurt that I was having to prepare to teach them too, and so was living and breathing this stuff the whole time!)
