passed yesterday with 910 - really really really happy with my score spent a lot of time revising for this one and it paid off.
Used the MS press book, cbt nuggets, home lab set up and a guy at work who's really good with server OS and was really helpful whenever I got stuck.
Dropped most of my marks on routing and remote access according to the score sheet, which isnt a bad thing, as far as I know its now widely used anyway.

On to the 70-270 to finish the MCSA now, im going to try and get this one done quickly. Its my Birthday in exactly a month and I set myself the goal last year of finishing the MCSA before im 30.........

You'll fly through the 270, easy peasy in comparison to the beast of 291!!

have been using the 270 as a kind or carrot on a stick whenever I got bored revising

The 270 you will find a walk in the park after the server exams.

I passed the beast last week, feels good to get that one of the way doesn't it?

I think they call 70-291 the beast because it is a step-up from the other exams and there is a lot of content to get through and study. Couple of years back I did 70-290 shortly after 70-270 and didn't find it that much harder, maybe because there is crossover between the two exams or maybe I was more practised. I wouldn't underestimate 70-270 though as I remember the book was much thicker than 70-290.

I found the 291 subject material much tougher than the 290 but I went into the exam better prepared and got a higher score.
Make sure you get loads of hands of practice, I had 8 or 9 Sims and I don’t think I would have been able to complete these with just the book/videos.
Good Luck - I’ve got the 270 booked for Friday the 2nd of September and going through the MS book now so fingers crossed.

 

So i took and passed the 70-270 this morning with a score of 861, really happy with the pass as this finished up the MCSA.

it was a tough exam, a lot tougher that i was expecting but if im honest that may have been because i went in a little under prepared - i'd just skimmed the MS book and had to fall back on my XP knowledge which thankfully isnt bad as i've supported it for 5-6 years.

Now im going to take a little break from studying - Im back at college at the end of this month to start module 3 of 4 in my CCNA course and im hoping to take the network + along side this
