    I passed 70-290 today!

I've been really busy this year but it's great to be back passing exams.

Next stop, 70-291 the BEAST! :D

Good luck to everyone currently studying for 70-290, I actually found it much easier than 70-270 probably because the questions were much more to the point, not nearly as wordy.

Well done mate, can you tell me what you used to prepare for the exam?

I am planning on doing this myself very soon, the material I have is quite old and I assume there has been some changes to the topics covered with 2003 R2 and so on.

Thanks and good luck with the next one :)

Yeah I would recommend up-to-date study materials as a good start. I did have the original Microsoft press book before I started studying but purchased the most recent second edition as well to give me the best chance. The Microsoft press book is very good and I would recommend it for 70-290, very good value for money on Amazon.

Although the second edition MS book mentions server 2003 R2 it says that the exam is based on Server 2003 sp1. And on my exam I didn't have any questions that were specifically R2.

I normally try to supplement reading the book with some computer based training (CBT). Testout have been very good in the past, however for 70-290 I would NOT recommend Testout as I did a trial of it and the instructor just put me to sleep and it is old material. I used Trainsignal CBT which was excellent, alternatively you could check out the CBT nuggets.

Hope this helps and good luck with the exam.

    Thanks for the congrats everyone.

Glad to see so many still pumped up about the MCSE/MCSA track on 2003, even though 2008 is making its appearance. My thoughts are several are still on 2000, so there is still need for support. I am hoping to take the 70-290 within 6 weeks from now.
