    Hi guys,

I don't post here often, but I do read the forums regularly...

I just wanted to thank everyone for participating in this online community, I've learned a great deal from reading your posts. Now I've got my first cert under my belt, I plan to become a much more active contributor to these forums.

So, I passed my 70-290 exam on Saturday at my second attempt. I scored 820, whereas I failed it a fortnight ago with 633 (think I must have just had an off day then, as I'd been quite ill in the run up to the exam - that and the fact it was my first go at a Microsoft exam meant I wasn't too disheartened by the fail).

So now I am officially an MCP! I'm gonna have to get some new business cards made up :-)

I'm going to start prepping for the 70-291 now, so does anyone have any advice on which book I should buy? I used the MS Press book for the 290 and found it quite informative, although I've not looked at any books from the other publishing houses - if there is a better book out there I will check it out before buying.

    Any thoughts?

    Congrats on the Pass :)

Is there any reason why you've skipped the client exam? If your aim is the MCSA/MCSE, a client exam pass is a must :)

A good book is the Sybex one, I would also recommend using a CBT (like Learnkey), practice exams (from Transcender, Preplogic, etc) and a Practice lab at home - even if you work on a live one at work. This exam isn't called the beast for nothing :)

No, no reason at all. I just figured 290 would be a good place to start. I work in the IT industry and have hands on experience with administering servers and networks, and have done for a couple of years, so thought I'd do the MCSE core exams, in order, first. I can pick up the client exam (270 or 620) at a later date...
