Outlook 2013 - duplicate e-mails

It's been made known to myself that Outlook 2013 for only one particular user (maybe more that haven't reported it) are at times getting duplicate e-mails appear, if clicking away from this folder and going back to it then the duplicates disappear... webmail never shows duplicates.

Running Windows 7 - 32bit, Outlook 2013 - 32bit.
Also running a MS Surface running Windows 8.1 with Outlook 2013, I believe it doesn't show the duplicates on this device.

what sort of email delivery are you using? exchange, imap, pop?

exchange, currently in the process of waiting for our network team to move users mailboxes over to Exchange 2013.
