Can someone help me on this one please, as looking at other forums I cannot find a suitable fix for the problem.

If I perform a search in Outlook 2007, for lets say the keyword "avs" where I know there are at least 14 items, but only 10 items are found. I have re-installed Outlook and also ran a new search within Indexing Options, however it's still not finding all 14 items from within that folder that I am performing the search.

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried this ?

Reset indexing by rebuilding your Instant Search catalog - Outlook - Office.com

Not sure if this is the same with Outlook 2007, but Outlook 2010 definitely needs cached mode enabled to search all items. Might be worth a shot.

From my understanding the difference between cache mode being on / off is the location that the searching is completed.

If it's on then local system performs the search using the cache
If it's off then remote server handles the search.

If you're in cached mode then rebuild the local index as mentioned above.

If you're not in cached mode, ie on a Terminal Server, then you might need to rebuild the search indexes on the mailbox server. This applies to Exchange 2007 / 2010 - there is a powershell script it %PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts named ResetSearchIndex.ps1

Using a raised exchange shell run .\ResetSearchIndex.ps1 - force -all

This will rebuild them. Original sources for more info:

Came across this in recent SBS migrations where the searching would not return results prior to the mailbox move date.

Try searching through webmail - if it comes back with the correct emails it will show that the search engine on the server is at least working.
