Have any of you used an online estate agent before? I'm thinking of selling my house but I've never sold one before. Googling reviews makes me even more confused with conflicting reviews left right and centre

Never – what’s the selling point? Less commission I assume?

Yep not a percentage just a set fee. Purple bricks is £850 but there's one that's only £99! I am tempted to give it a whirl and won't be using an estate agent. They charge thousands

It is on YouTube. It was aired in August 2017 so just nearly a year ago.

I think it was something to do with additional charges, estate agents being pushy and lying but I can't remember much about it.

But you never know they may have change their ways since the broadcast.

Online estate agents could be the future.

Thank you all handy to know. Funny enough the cheaper ones don't even use an agent. You take calls viewings and negotiate which might not sound great, but you know it's getting done if you're doing it so I am tempted. All I need really is for it to be on Zoopla and Rightmove

Once they have your fees my concern was what's driving them to actually sell your house for you? worse still, what's in it for them to push for a better price? all they care about is a quick sale at that point.

Also my concern and I think this is where Purple bircks falls down. Bizzarely the ones that are even cheaper, don't have a person behind them, its effectively like me listing my house on right move, taking the calls and doing the negotiating, which I'm fine with cos I know how much I want and I wont budge sort of thing. And I'd be the one showing people around anyway as I still live here. If I agree on a price I'm happy with its all over to solicitors anyway the same as with any estate agent. I actually don't know how they still exist tbh.

I might give the £99 squid one a whirl when I get back from holiday, its a life experience if nothing else isn't it ha ha (https://doorsteps.co.uk/ or 99home.co.uk)
