Well chuffed today. as some will know I've been looking at this MSc p/t starting September - partly because I wanted to study that type of course and also in the hope that the uni links with employers might lead to some work (course is only 1/2 day a week).

I've had some email discussions with the Course Tutor, managed to get funding from a private educational trust (first year anyway) and then today I received an unconditional offer - whoopee !

Nice to have a bit of good news at last and i'm really looking forward to it !

There's a chance to carry on to a doctorate at the end so I could be "Dr" by the time I'm 50 ! rofl !

Should of applied to a more respected Uni
I suppose in some aspects a degree is still a degree.

 

Not many are :

1) local to me

2) as cheap !

3) offer a specific course I want to do

I already have a degree, this is for an MSc

 

Hmm looks like I meet the entry requirements.

Sorry about that but the way i see it if you are going to go to uni you might as well try to get into the best uni you possibly can why go to an ex poly if you can go to Cambridge. I was accepted at Aston to do comp science but i declined.

I understand funding for an MSc depends on the uni so cost must be a bigger issue than for a BSc

Might have been an idea to really read the post and take into account the posters situation or even enquire as to why he is doing the Msc that way. At a push I'd say at 47 full time education is . . . .well a bit impractical unless you're a freakishly old single mother or just won the lottery

(edit) I just saw your apology. Mate I think we all feel the same way when it comes to selecting a uni but try to use some analysis for before dropping in statements like that.

 

Elitism but when you go to an interview and the person actually is visibly impressed by the fact that i was accepted into Aston.

Or when you have an interview and your tutor asks do you have it Birmingham City Uni (ex poly) or Mathew Bolton college (place where people get stabbed), and when you say Aston they actually say my god your going to do well in life.

Going to a good uni has advantages that's all i am saying

Edit: Aston is not even that good i declined it because it looks like a council estate even though it is like 15th in the country.

 

Er didnt my post already confer that we all get that.

My point, again, is that you should have used tact and analysis.
