    Hey all,

I'm just introducing myself at the mo. :)

I'm just about to embark on my IT training here in London in the UK from Joskos and at the end of it will have the following qualifications:

    MCSA
    MCSE
    MCSE: Security :blink
    CCNA

I'm really fascinated by viruses, firewalls and hacking stuff so I will be aiming to get into the security field of IT. Most likely I'll be a ethical / legal hacker eventually and explore all kinds of cool stuff relating to security.

So...that's me. Watch this space cause I'm a certified megalomaniac and am determined to make it big in the IT world.

Hello shadowlazarus and Welcome to CF:biggrin

I was just wondering your course with Joskos is it a boot camp or distance learning?

    Boot camp?

Well, everything is taught and tested at the centre so it's all good.

Just my study loan is a but messedup at the moment cause the bank is being anal so I may have to delay starting for like 6 months maybe! :(

But I'm exploring all options at the mo. I'm definately getting into IT. No doubt. It just may take a lil longer than expected...

If I were you, I'd go read some of the other threads where we've discussed Joskos before making a definate decision.

Also, you won't get an MCSE:Security. At least not with the exams they provide. You'll have to do one more after that.

Boot camps are 10 week fast paced course such as
    www.koenig-solutions.com

they are usually leave a big hole in your pocket!
But like _omni_ said take a good look at the feedback on this forum before parting with any money!

Yeah...I've seen a few bad reports about Joskos but I've always found them helpful and friendly. Maybe that will change when I study?

At any rate, the banks aren't doing Career Development Loans anymore so I have to improve my credit a bit before I can apply for a perosnal loan to cover the costs now.

Aside from Joskos, who could I train with?

I mean...they have all the certificates like Investor in People and Microsoft Gold Partner so they must be doing SOMETHING right eh?

I just read that link and now I'm scared.

Does anyone here have a place to recommend I can study with then?

If you want to go to class to study, try your local colleges/tech's as more and more are becoming MS academic academies. And you will find them cheaper than alot of private training companies.

My credit is fine. The first IT place that tried to get me, I was approved for a loan higher than what Joskos wanted but I cancelled it cause the place just felt dodgy to me.

So I applied for a CDL through the Co-Op bank and they kinda screwed up and just did NOTHING for 3 weeks - an oversight which they didn't really make amends for. It tooks months of waiting and hassle to get anywhere with them (because it was the busiest time of the year and now things were back-logged so i had to wait in line cause they screwed up) and I asked if it was my credit and they said no. They had approved me on my merits but were waiting for info on Joskos from the Learning Schools Council.

Suffice to say that fter 2 months waiting, Co-Op decided that they were not going to deal with Joskos (and 4 other places I was told by CO-OP) (cause of lack of info from the LSC maybe) and that I could not get a loan - Not my fault.

I called Joskos and gave them the info and they looked into it and came back to me saying that all CDL's have been cancelled for IT studies probably due to the various 'cowboy' companies out there ripping people off and ruining it for the legit providers.

So at this moment I'm kinda screwed but maybe that's a good thing cause if I had gone to Joskos and it is as bad as everyone says, I'd be regretting it now. Everything happens for a reason.

Regardless of timing, I will still get into IT. I will find a way and a good place to study with. End of story. :P
