    Hi Guys

Im new to the forum and thought I would say hi and give you a brief detail in my background

Im currently working on helpdesk resolving 1st line support stuff at the moment which ive been in for 1 half years, Im looking to take the MCSE path and start off with the 70-290 exam.

The only problem im having is that fact that we are so locked down at my work that they will not allow us to go on any of the servers which run windows 2003 but I can play around with active directoy which is a short cut to our desktops :(

So im curretnly in the process of building a lab in my spare room at home.

Look forward to your comments or questions

    thank you

    hello and Welcome to CF:biggrin

That's probably a good thing they don't allow you to play around with AD. Nothing against you mate. But AD directory is a live state, if you start taking playing around with domain policies it really screws up the network not to mention the users.:(

Believe me if you think you have a lot of calls on help desk it will be nothing compared to the hell you would get if the AD Domain server went down.:dry

Your better off setting up a lab or VLAN yourself.8)

Yup as already said you don’t want to mess around with the live AD. Reminds me of a time when one of the guys on the helpdesk decided to update the AD by deleting a stack of old distribution lists which was a request by the customer.

The problem was that he deleted all the security groups! One by one calls came into the help desk from users complaining that they couldn’t access anything. Ended up having to do a system state restore on the DC. Not a good day that one! :biggrin
