Liverpool University Unveils Fab Four Degree

A university is claiming to be the world's first to offer a masters degree on The Beatles.

The course at Liverpool Hope University will cover the composition of the Fab Four's songs and the social conditions from which their distinctive sound emerged.

Course leader Mike Brocken, a doctor in pop music studies, said: "There have been over 8,000 books about The Beatles but there has never been serious academic study.

"The Beatles influenced so much of society, not just with their music but also with fashion, from their collar-less jackets to their psychedelic clothes.

Why not? I mean a few years ago (ok it was either late 90's or early 00's) a University here did a degree program on the X-files (can't remember if it was a Bsc/BA or a Master's). I'm just waiting for a Master's degree in Watching TV... Pretty sure I'll pass that one. And I wouldn't even care if it was a MSc, MA or a MBA

There were a whole bunch of what I would have considered fad (or shash) degrees when I was doing my UCAS applications a few years back.

Let's see...

Whilst not a degree in its entirety, David Beckham was the subject of a module in a footballing culture degree. Which is a shambolic notion at best, even for a football lover like myself.

I believe the same honour was paid to Michael Owen, at around the same time.

Then there is a degree in underwater basket weaving (apparently you can go all the way up to PhD status in this). Someone also did their research PhD in 'Air Guitar'

Then "Water Sport Science" ... there's a biiiig list lol

 

Is there one on drinking Stella.

I'm sure we could make one up if know one does a degree.

Raffaz should get an honorary degree

 

As a scouser I think its "boss" there's a Beatles degree on offer in Liverpool ha ha calm down!
