I got a new job! I'm going to be working as a operations analyst supporting a multi-site setup. Its shift working consisting of long hours doing days and nights on a rotation but I can't wait for a new challenge!

Sorry I know you didn't ask me but I worked four on four off for years. Two days two nights. Peice of cake after the first week and feels like you're hardly in work

I've now been doing it 4 years working 4-days on 3-days off then 3-days on 4-days off on a rotational 6am - 6pm & 6pm - 6am. I found it tough at 1st but got used to it, then I had a little baby boy in 2015 and it really got to me not seeing him when I have to do nightshifts then going home in the morning when the wife foes to work I go to bed and his grandparents look after him for the day. Then he gets dropped back around 3pm - 4pm and I only have an hour or so to spend with him then it's back to work.

But I do make up for it on my days off. At present though there will be a Service Desk job coming up at my place normal hours 9am - 5pm which I will be applying for. I think it's time for me to move off shifts now as I am not getting any younger.

What about career wise? Are you not taking a step backwards by moving to the service desk?
