    grim,

When I studied for the CCNA I used the then-current books from Cisco and they were excellent. Dry, but thorough. I don't know a whole lot about the Cisco Networking Academy courses, but I've never heard anything against them other then they are expensive either.

On that basis I'd risk my money on what you're looking at if I thought I needed them. You're the one who knows where your knowledge gaps are at, and if those materials say they cover your known deficiencies then they are probably worth the money.

i was just after peoples opinions to whether they are well written and cover the CCNA material well enough to take the exams etc etc

i have reasonable networking knowledge and have had some basic cisco experience before too (physical repairs and removing passwords and configs etc)

I have used both. I am at the end of my 2nd semester of the Cisco Networking Academy. I have to say, I think the books are great, and all the practice labs are helpful. I'm not sure how it will help for the exam since I haven't sat either of the ICND exams yet. I'll find out in a few weeks.
