    Hi all,

I'm thinking about doing the Network+ certification but I need to puchase a decent book. I'm thinking of
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Network-Stu...=pd_sbs_b_1_img?ie=UTF8&qid=1205147865&sr=8-1

I've heard good things about Sybex books. I passed A+ back in 2003 using Thomson/Wave material but it wasn't the best explained/written in parts.

I'm also wondering how current the book is, i.e. do CompTIA have imminent plans to update their exam?

Finally, I've heard that A+ related questions pop up in the exam. If this is the case, I'd have to revise through A+ as it was five years ago when I took that exam (even though I work with PC hardware every day I've forgotten a lot of the theoretical/in depth stuff)

    Cheers

    Hi Welcome

The book you have chosen is the most recommended book to get for the N+. CompTIA have changed the name of the exam but the objectives remain the same so that book will be just fine.

    Hi and welcome to CF!

The Groth book is good. If you want another to complement it then I'd suggest the Mike Meyers book.

    Hi All

I successfully passed my final A+ exam today and eager to get started on N+. I know that for CCNA etc there is software to simulate networks etc. i.e. Bosun Netsim or Network Visualiser. Is this kind of stuff any use instead of getting hardware to practice on for N+. I apologise if this is a far out question, but as I say I'm just starting out on N+.

All you really need is a bunch of networked computers (virtual and/or real). :)
